WHO: Mid-City Arts + King Chaka
WHAT: Mid-City Arts Presents “Resurrection” the first solo show by Los Angeles graffiti artist Chaka. Anyone that was around LA in the late 80s and early 90s is more than familiar with CHAKA and his infamous tags that literally covered California from Orange County to all througout Los Angeles to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. Daniel Ramos, AKA Chaka, was 18 when he was arrested and charged in 1991 with 48 counts of vandalism, trespassing and causing $500,000 in property damage. Chaka’s signature …

WHO: SCION GALLERY + Giant Robot
WHAT: Papershapers, curated by Giant Robot opens at Scion’s 4,500 square foot L.A. Gallery in Culver City. Papershapers is a group show featuring ten artists who work with paper-not “on paper.” The exhibition features works that are cut, torn, folded, and sewn into unique creations. Shin Tanaka will be making a rare U.S. appearance at the opening and will be on hand to show original pieces and fold paper with attendees!
