The mixed-media pieces capture odd moments frozen in time that hint at narrative and create an imaginary history in which beings of all kinds explore the wonders of their environment together.

  • Dream of a Rarebit Fiend (Edwin S Porter): A forerunner of the surrealist movement, this technical and cinematic marvel is the earliest example of non-linear cinematographic storytelling and is a feast of gluttonous grotesquery.
  • Coney Island USA (Valentine Sherry): You can almost smell the salt air, cotton candy and suntan lotion in this 1952 film which captures the garishness, cacophony and movement of Brooklyn’s storied playground.
  • NY NY (Francis Thompson): In this collection of scenes, New York City is recorded through special kaleidoscopic lenses.
